WKMG-TV News 6 has received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for its documentary on hope and healing in Orlando six months after the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

The documentary honored the 49 men and women who were killed in the Pulse nightclub massacre.

The documentary, “6.12.16: A News 6 Special Report,” was written and produced by News 6 executive producer Angel Blazquez and filmed and edited by News 6 investigative videographer and award-winning producer Paul Giorgio.

The Murrow Awards pay tribute to the values and principles set forth by Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism, the organization said.
